Hotel The Fontenay

Welcome to lakeside luxury: located beside the Außenalster lake in the heart of Hamburg, The Fontenay reflects the peace and natural beauty of its unique setting. This luxury hotel is located in the Rotherbaum district of the city, where Tudor-style houses stand beside turn-of-the-century German architecture.

The Japanese refer to Hamburg as “The green city in the forest” in reference to the wealth of green space that residents and visitors alike can enjoy. Urban life and nature are in perfect balance here, and Hamburg-born architect Jan Störmer took inspiration from water, trees and the sky to design a building whose basic form consists of three merging circles reminiscent of treetops. This amorphous silhouette ensures that the interior is flooded with light, new lines of vision constantly open up, and large expanses of glass blur the boundaries between inside and outside.

The interior of the five-star hotel is also imbued with nature. Rooms feature granite, marble, wood, and leather. Cocktails with a spectacular outlook over the Alster river can be enjoyed in the Fontenay Bar on the sixth floor. Furnished with our 375 armchairs and barstools in luxurious velour, it offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the Hamburg skyline.
